Description

This Dhokra Nandhi is a stunning brass sculpture that reflects the soulful beauty of India’s ancient tribal metalcraft. Its body is adorned with Dhokra’s signature latticework — hand-shaped loops that create a rhythmic, textured pattern unique to this art form. The Nandhi’s serene face, upright horns, and ornate collar evoke devotion, protection, and spiritual grounding. At 7.5 inches in length and cast entirely by hand, the piece exudes both artistic depth and cultural authenticity, making it a striking addition to puja spaces, entry consoles, work desks, or curated décor settings. It radiates auspicious energy while standing as a testament to India’s oldest craft traditions.

Craft Story — A 4,000-Year Legacy Cast in Brass

Dhokra art, practiced for over four millennia, is among the earliest known forms of metalcasting. Each sculpture begins with a detailed wax model, shaped meticulously using coils, ropes, and patterned strips — the very technique that gives this Nandhi its intricate openwork design. After the clay mould encases the wax, it is fired, allowing the wax to melt away and molten brass to take its place.

As every mould is broken after a single use, each Dhokra piece is one-of-a-kind, carrying the individuality, rhythm, and fingerprint of the artisan. The lattice-like motifs, expressive posture, and earthy brass tones all echo the tribal worldview: one where art, spirituality, and everyday life are seamlessly intertwined.

This Nandhi is not just an object of worship or décor — it is a fragment of living heritage, crafted to be treasured across generations.
